  • 3rd Floor, Mansei-Bashi Hall, Soto-kanda 3-11-1, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (5 min. walk from the Denkigai Exit, JR Akihabara-Sta.)
  • Entrance: 500 JPY (for the copying cost of handouts)
  • Reports from former detainees, activists, lawyers etc. (tentative)

2. Protest

A man detained in the East-Japan Immigration Center (Ushiku, Ibaraki) died on 25 March, after having been left for many days with no medical care although he had repeatedly complained about pains.

How did the authority react? Nothing other than a very short comment: "there were no problems with the Immigration Bureau about his death".

It is shameful to mention, but such deaths have happened again and again in the detention centers of Japanese Immigration Bureau. It must also be added that the health of numberless detainees were seriously harmed, both mentally and physically. However, the authority have never taken formal responsibility for such violation of detainees.

We will discuss this problem in the conference, and demand the dismissal of those who responsible in the authority.
